Brushton Moira Panthers Upset Chateaugay; Giving Chateaugay Bulldogs Their First Loss

The Panthers of B-M looked to steal a game as they traveled to Chateaugay to face the mighty Bulldogs. The last time these two teams faced off it was Chateaugay by 17, 49-32. This time around it was different. In the first quarter the Panthers set up their challenge. The Panthers posted a 10-4 first quarter lead. The Panthers would use great ball pressure and good defense of the interior to hold the Bulldogs under 20 first half points. The Panthers lead at half 24-14. In the second half the Bulldogs came out firing. They quickly cut the deficit down 35-30 after the third. But in the fourth it was the Panthers who would get some huge defensive stop down the stretch and produce the 43-42 upset. Candy Dufrane, who finished with eight of her 15 points in the second quarter, started the second quarter off with a 3-pointer and later added her second and third.
