Two years ago today, one of my best friends in the world took her last breath and was immediately ushered into the presence of our Savior.
Although that is both an astounding and comforting thought - the pain of losing her is still very real and painful. Loosing one of your best friends when you’re twenty-four and she’s twenty-six is both unexpected and heartbreaking to say the least. It seems unfathomable when I stop to think that all of the plans that we had for the future are now gone, and there are no more memories to be made, only remembered.
What I miss the most is being able to call her and ask her opinion on an issue, tell her something that happened to me that day, or just to hear her laugh (knowing it could always make my rough days a little easier and lighthearted). This year there have been numerous times I think she would have enjoyed the hilarity of our seemingly complicated and odd life events. I've missed hearing her reactions, insight, and encouragment.
A famous entrepreneur has been quoted as saying, When a stone is dropped into a lake, it quickly disappears from sight - but its impact leaves behind a series of ripples that broaden and reach across the water. In the same way, the impact of one life lived for Christ will leave behind an influence for good that will reach the lives of many others. Krimson has most certainly made her mark on the lives of many. As a friend, she was without equal. Not only did she participate in the everyday mundane discussions of life, she delved into crucial matters of the heart ensuring that friendship with her was never superficial. Krimson has left an intense and dazzling mark on our lives, on the lives of those she met while with us, and will continue, through her amazing testimony of a life lived for Christ, to impact the lives of those she has never met through our memories.
I am so thankful that when I take my last breath on this earth, I too will be ushered into the presence of our Savior - and will have the opportunity to spend an eternity in Heaven with Krimson.
