Little thoughts seem to overwhelm my soul lately as I meditate on them. Thoughts like "I am a friend of God.", "For God so loved the world that He gave.", and "I love the Lord, because He hears my voice." The last is my most recent reflection. Honestly, if you think of all the gazillion things going on in all the world - the noise that is incorporated into a single second; the cries of distress, the songs of praise, the shouts of joy, the nearly silent whispers - it's overwhelming! Yet, in the midst of that seeming chaos - God promises to hear me. To hear my voice. And if you want to go further - He knows my name! (Isaiah 43:1, John 10:3) I love that! He listens for me, He hears me, and He knows me. It's a wonderful reminder of the intimate relationship that God wants with us. Thank you, my Shepherd - my God.

This Valentines Day after church, Dad, Mom, Annette, Sara, Nathan and I went to the ice castle in Saranac Lake. Every year, since 1898, volunteers from the area construct the castle out of blocks of ice that they cut from the nearby lake. It's quite a spectacular sight, and this is one of the few times I've seen it during the day. The lights on the castle at night bring an entirely different ambiance to the castle that I am partial to, but I must say - my pictures come out much better during the day!

We walked around outside for a while, being careful becuase the ground was covered in ice...

...Nathan held on tight to MiMi's hand.

The castle boasts an icy walled maze that we navigated our way though...

...I think here, Nathan is looking up to try and orient himself - or he's looking to heaven for help!

When we got inside, we entered the "throne room"...

...and it was about then that my camera batteries died. Or froze. :)
