Paula's New Home

Yesterday, mom and I went up to visit Paula. Although mom has visited numerous times, I hadn't yet had the opportunity. It was good to see her again, and where she is living. She lives in the home with two other residents, Richard and Bernie. She seems to like telling Richard what to do (to sit down and stop walking, so he doesn't fall). Bernie is adorable, very talkative, and writes letters to senators and the president.

This is the house - situated right in town. There is a beautiful park nearby the lake, and they go walking there often. Paula certainly keeps busy! She's attending the local church as well as the ladies Bible study. She also helps deliver Meals On Wheels, goes to the library, helps with grocery shopping, plays bingo at the adult center, is joining a wildlife center, plans to go swimming, maybe join an exercise class, and randomly goes to the movies.

No missing this room! Paula picked out this bright and cheerful color for her bedroom. She was also able to choose a new bedspread.

Paula would like to add a border to the walls, but has yet to find one that matches. Good luck with that, I say!

This is the sitting room that they set up for Paula. It's upstairs, next to her bedroom and bathroom. It's a quiet place that she can relax in (away from the guys!) and do her embrodiery. The plant by the window is the one that our church sent to her when she moved in.

This is the dining room, downstairs, adjacent to the kitchen and living room. The living areas are decorated in an Adirondack style.

Paula was very excited about making us chicken stew for dinner, and even made bisquits to go with it. She did a great job preparing it all and making sure everyone had some.

Keep her in your prayers, as there are obviously still some adjustments that she's getting used to. Overall, I think she's doing well and is looking forward to coming up for Mother's Day. If you want to send her a card or note, she really loves getting those. You can ask me or mom for her address! The staff said that they would like to get some pictures of her family to frame and put around the house, so she feels more at home...so if you have those, you can include them!
